BroadcastAsia2014 International Conference and the 5th Creative Content Production Conference jointly brought together 431 delegates and 127 speakers. Over 4 action-packed days, they discussed and debated on the most pertinent trends and challenges that the broadcasting, entertainment and media space are facing today. With 7 topic-dedicated tracks and 2 interactive workshops, BroadcastAsia2014 International Conference addressed key topics such as OTT business models and monetisation strategies; Second Screen and Social TV and the role they play in the future of television; Radio Broadcasting in the Digital Space; Cloud Broadcasting; as well as next-generation innovation and technologies in TV and home entertainment.
Kicking off the conference, Mock Pak Lum, Chief Technology Officer of StarHub delivered a welcome address, and then moderated the Captains of Industry Dialogue 1. This panel discussion consisted of Graham Kill, CEO, Irdeto; David Habben, Chief Strategist, Media, Asia Pacific & Japan, Akamai; and Fintan McKiernan, CEO, Ideal Systems. Together the 4 visionaries discussed the global perspective on how OTT is changing the competitive landscape of the broadcasting space.
On the second day, at the combined plenary session, Aliza Knox, Managing Diretor, APAC, Twitter delivered her Visionary Address highlighting the power of social media in the ICT and Broadcast Landscapes. She spoke about how social media platforms are revolutionising societies, organisations, media and next-generation consumer behaviour. She emphasized on the importance of engagement and why it is the only social currency that truly matters.
Eric Kearley, Head of IPTV and PayTV, Telstra, kicked things off on the third day of the conference with his Keynote Address – TV Everywhere – Grow Revenues and Eyeballs with a Successful Multiplatform Distribution Strategy. Being able to build interactivity into the show itself is the key differentiator of success in driving viewership, subscriptions and ad revenue.
Over at the 5th Creative Content Production Conference, Fotini Paraskakis, Managing Director, Asian Operations, Endemol, and Surachedh Assawaruenganun, Chief Executive Officer, Film Business, Kantana Group Co. Ltd., Chairman, Oriental Post Co. Ltd. opened each day with their respective Keynote Presentations. They highlighted the current standing of Asia in the global creative media landscape and shared their views on capitalisation opportunities.
