Presentation Title: Shooting the Entity: Where post and production meet together as one

Without any formal film school training, Lopez dropped out of college early when he realized that his true calling was in the entertainment industry, behind the curtains particularly in dark editing rooms where he started as a runner. He went on to pursue a career in broadcasting and in the advertising industry as a self-taught video editor, then went on to teach himself compositing and motion design until finally moving on to visual effects as a visual effects supervisor before becoming an accomplished and award-winning music video director and TV commercial director. His love for genre films particularly Asian horror and Hong Kong action cinema influenced him so much this ultimately played a major part on his decision to finally pursue his true passion and calling as a filmmaker.

Lopez’s first feature was the un-released French low budget sci-fi film “Quatre: Zero Huit” soon after he made his first paranormal/horror debut with “Binhi (The Seed)”, the film garnered accolades and praises for its technical aesthetics, cinematography as well as it’s subtle visual effects and editing. Local distributor Viva Entertainment picked it up for theatrical, TV rights and VOD for the Philippines and Asia.

His horror-action hybrid “Nilalang (ENTITY)” is currently the most awarded Filipino genre film to date with over 20 awards from some of the best genre festivals around the world and was picked up by Raven Banner Entertainment Canada for worldwide distribution rights after seeing the trailer and screener at the 2016 American Film Market, it has now been distributed to Japan, Korea & Germany and North America.

Ivan Agerton

Presentation Title: Shooting in Extreme Conditions and Working in 8K

As soon as young Ivan Agerton received his first camera (a 1942 Agfa from his grandfather) he set out documenting his family’s daily routine. Once he could drive his range expanded into wilds of Nevada. This exposure to the wilds of his home state has stuck with him; the desire to explore the world through his lens never left. Though the tools have changed – nowadays he shoots with a RED Weapon – his need to share his discoveries through profoundly moving imagery has not. After serving in the U.S. Marine Corps, Agerton founded Seattle and Los Angeles based Royal Galactic Media. His work has found him in the Himalayas and the Louvre, racing over the Serengeti in a helicopter, and deep diving the Tasmanian Sea. When not behind the camera, Agerton heads up RED Digital Cinema’s education workshops, teaching shooters the skills they need to revolutionize cinema. Whether working for major clients or chasing his own creative rabbits, Agerton’s uncanny intuition, painterly eye for composition, and technical virtuosity allow him to tease out and capture the soul of his subjects.
